How do I set up my daily reminder and Face ID lock?

Get a daily nudge on your iPhone or iPad to check in, and change it in the app or on the web. Turn on a Face ID lock to keep the app private if someone else picks up your device.

  • iPad

This guide covers 2 settings that help the app fit into your day. A daily reminder nudges you to check in. A Face ID lock keeps your check-ins and results private if someone else picks up your iPhone or iPad.

Both work in the Verve Lead app for iPhone and iPad, which is in testing. You can also change the reminder on the web. For the check-in itself, see How do I do my daily check-in?

How does the daily reminder work?

  • It arrives as a notification on your iPhone or iPad. It does not come to your web browser, or by email.
  • It is on unless you turn it off. The standard time is 8 am.
  • It follows the time on your device. If you travel, it still arrives at the same time wherever you are.
  • It comes every day at that time, even if you have already checked in.
  • Tapping it opens the app at Buoyancy, so you can check in.
  • If you use the app on both an iPhone and an iPad, each one reminds you.
  • If your organisation has switched daily check-ins off, turn the reminder off in Settings.

Soon after you first sign in, the app asks if it may send you notifications. The reminder only reaches you if you allow them.

How do I change the reminder on iPhone or iPad?

  1. Open the app and tap Settings.
  2. Under Daily check-in, turn Remind me daily on or off.
  3. To change the time, tap Time and choose a new one.
  4. To go back to 8 am, tap Use the standard time (08:00).

Below the setting, the app shows when your next reminder is due.

On iPad, the same settings sit beside the sidebar.

What if the reminder never comes?

If notifications for Verve Lead are turned off, the Daily check-in section says so. Tap Open Settings to go to your device’s settings, turn notifications on, then come back to the app.

When notifications are off, the app tells you.

Reminders also stop on a device when you log out of the app there.

How do I change the reminder on the web?

  1. Select Profile in the sidebar.
  2. Find Daily check-in reminder.
  3. Select Turn off or Turn on.
  4. To change the time, choose a new one in the Time box. It saves straight away.
  5. To go back to 8 am, select Use standard.
Profile, then Daily check-in reminder.

The time only shows while the reminder is on. A change on the web reaches your iPhone or iPad the next time you open the app, or come back to it.

What does the Face ID lock do?

When the lock is on, the app asks for Face ID before it shows anything. It asks:

  • when you open the app after it has been closed
  • when you come back to it after more than 60 seconds away.

If you switch to another app and come straight back, it does not ask again.

If Face ID does not work, or is not set up, you can use your device passcode instead. On an iPhone or iPad with Touch ID, the switch reads Require Touch ID to open. If you have not set up Face ID or Touch ID, the switch may read Require biometrics to open, and your passcode unlocks the app.

While the lock is on, the app switcher shows only the Verve Lead logo, not what was on your screen.

The lock is off unless you turn it on. It belongs to that one device – it does not change the web app or your other devices.

How do I turn on the Face ID lock?

  1. Open the app and tap Settings.
  2. Under Privacy, turn on Require Face ID to open.

The lock starts the next time you open the app, or come back to it after more than 60 seconds. The first time, your iPhone or iPad asks whether Verve Lead may use Face ID.

If you cannot see Privacy, your device does not have a passcode. Set one in your device’s settings first.

Turn on the lock under Privacy.
What you see when the app is locked.

When the app is locked, it asks for Face ID straight away. If you cancel, tap Unlock to try again.

To turn the lock off, go back to Settings and turn off Require Face ID to open.

What if I lose my iPhone or iPad?

The Face ID lock only helps if it was already on. To protect your account, change or reset your password in the web app. Either one signs you out of Verve Lead on your other devices, including the app. See your password for how.
