When someone you mentor checks in at one or two, we email you straight away. The email shows their name, their level out of six, and any note they wrote. It has a View Their Profile button. They must have accepted you as their mentor first. A second low check-in within 24 hours does not send another email. So check their page too, not just your inbox. Select Mentees in the sidebar. Needs Attention counts anyone whose latest check-in is one or two. Their row is tinted red and moves to the top of Your Mentees. Your Dashboard shows the Wellbeing watchlist when someone is flagged. It shows signals, never notes or answers. Open their page to see Recent Check-ins, newest first, with the Buoyancy Trend. One low day may just be a hard day. Several in a row say more. Reach out personally, and ask how they are travelling. These prompts are not a crisis service. In an emergency, call your local emergency number. Find the full guide, with pictures, in the Verve Lead help guides.

The people you mentor can check in each day by answering one question: how buoyant are you today? They choose a level from 1 (Empty) to 6 (Full), and can add a note.
When someone answers low, we email you. A low check-in is an invitation to reach out with care.
When will I get an email?
When someone you mentor checks in at 1 (Empty) or 2 (Sinking), we email you straight away. The email includes:
- their name, and the level they chose out of 6
- their note, if they wrote one
- a View Their Profile button, which opens their page.
A few things decide whether the email comes:
- They have accepted you as their mentor. Until then, nothing of theirs reaches you.
- It goes to their own mentor only. A mentor of mentors who supervises you does not get it.
- It is their first low check-in for 24 hours. If they have already checked in at 1 or 2 in the previous 24 hours, we do not email you again.
Where else will I see it?
On the web, select Mentees in the sidebar. On your Mentor Dashboard, Needs Attention counts the people whose latest check-in is 1 or 2. Their row is tinted red and sits at the top of Your Mentees.
Your Dashboard also shows a Wellbeing watchlist panel whenever someone in your care is flagged. Select View full watchlist to see everyone on it.
Open the person’s page to see their Recent Check-ins, newest first, with any note in quotes, and their Buoyancy Trend over recent weeks.
On iPhone and iPad, the Verve Lead app is in testing. Go to Mentoring. The Wellbeing watchlist card sits at the top, and Needing attention counts low check-ins. The person’s row is tinted red and marked Needs attention.
What does the watchlist flag?
The watchlist keeps quieter signals in view, as well as low check-ins. It flags someone when:
- their latest check-in is 1 or 2
- they have checked in before, but not in the last 30 days
- an area of their latest completed Health of a Christian Leader Assessment needs attention.
It shows the signal, their latest level and when it was. It never shows their notes or answers.
Your watchlist covers the people you mentor who are members or intern mentors. If you are a mentor of mentors, it also covers the mentees of the mentors you supervise. If you are a confidant, or your organisation has given you duty of care, it covers every member and intern mentor in the organisation. If you mentor as an organisation administrator, you have no watchlist. See the watchlist and pastoral care.
What might I do next?
- Open their page. Read their recent check-ins and any note, and look at the trend. One low day may simply be a hard day; several in a row say more.
- Reach out personally – a call, a message, a coffee. Ask how they are travelling, and listen.
- If you meet regularly, think about bringing your next conversation forward.
- Keep a private note of what you noticed and what you agreed. See your mentee’s brief and notes.
- If you supervise mentors and someone appears on your watchlist, ask their mentor whether they have been in touch.
