This video shows you how to take the Christian Leader Mentor Assessment on the web. Go to Assessments. The Christian Leader Mentor Assessment opens once you have completed your HCLA. On its card, select Start, or Take Again if you have taken it before. Then choose who takes part. Select 360° Feedback. You answer first, then you invite others. For each statement, choose how often it is true for you. One is Never. Five is Always. Answer every statement in the competency. When every statement has an answer, select Next. Do this for each competency until the last one. Select Previous to go back. In the last competency, select Submit Assessment. This is a demo, so nothing is saved. On the web, we only save your answers when you submit. So finish in one sitting. If you still have pending invitations from your last assessment, we ask you to confirm. Select Submit Anyway. You then arrive at Invite 360° Feedback. Enter the person’s email address, and their name if you like. Choose how they know you: Supervisor, Peer or Direct Report. Select Add. Then repeat for each person. When your list is ready, select Send. The button shows how many invitations will go. This is a demo, so nothing is sent. Each person gets an email with a private link. The link lasts 14 days, and they do not need an account. To see your results later, open History on the assessment’s card, and choose a date. Use View by to see everyone together, or one group at a time. Your results call the Direct Report group Mentee. A group shows Held back when fewer than three people answered, and some of those answers were given on a promise of anonymity. Select a competency to see the statements behind it. Your own mentor can see your results, and so can a mentor who supervises them. Your organisation’s administrators do not. That is how to take the Christian Leader Mentor Assessment.

Narration is AI-generated. Every screen is from our demo environment – an invented organisation and people.

In the Christian Leader Mentor Assessment, you rate 93 statements about your mentoring, from 1 (Never) to 5 (Always). If you choose, people who know your mentoring then answer the same statements about you. The iPhone and iPad app, and some web pages, call it the CLMA.

The statements sit in 13 competencies, in 2 groups:

  • 3 prerequisites – Mature Disciple, Seasoned Christian Leadership and Healthy Lifestyle
  • 10 behavioural competencies – Building Relational Bond, Investigative Inquiry & Discernment, Catalysing Self-Reflection, Challenging & Confronting, Empowering Transformative Action, Keeping It Spiritual, Evaluating Process, Principled in Practice, Risk Management and Administration.

What should I know before I begin?

  • It opens after your Health of a Christian Leader Assessment (HCLA). Until you have completed one, the card is marked Locked. See taking the HCLA.
  • Your organisation decides whether it is offered. If you cannot see it under Assessments, ask your administrator – they can ask us to switch it on.
  • On the web, answer in one sitting. We only save your answers when you submit. If you leave or refresh the page before then, you lose them. The app saves your answers on your device as you go.

How do I take it on the web?

  1. Go to Assessments. On Christian Leader Mentor Assessment, select Start – or Take Again if you have taken it before.
  2. Choose Personal Reflection (only you), 180° Feedback or 360° Feedback (you, then others).
  3. For each statement, choose how often it is true for you, from 1 (Never) to 5 (Always).
  4. When every statement in a competency has an answer, select Next. Previous takes you back.
  5. In the last competency, select Submit Assessment.
Choose who takes part.
One competency at a time.

With Personal Reflection, your results open straight away. With 180° Feedback or 360° Feedback, you go on to invite people. Your results show your own answers from the start, and change as each person responds.

If invitations from your last assessment are still waiting, we ask you to confirm before you submit. Answers to them go to your earlier results.

How do I invite people to give feedback?

  1. When you submit a 180° or 360° assessment, you arrive at Invite 360° Feedback. To come back later, open History on the assessment’s card, then select Invite Feedback.
  2. Enter the person’s email address and, if you like, their name.
  3. Choose how they know you: Supervisor, Peer or Direct Report. Your results call that last group Mentee.
  4. Select Add. Repeat for each person.
  5. Select the Send button. It shows how many invitations will go.
Add each person, then send.

Each person gets an email with a private link, and does not need an account. Before they begin, we tell them what you will see. Their link lasts 14 days. See answering a mentor feedback request for what they are asked.

Sent Invitations lists each person as Pending, Completed or Expired.

  • Resend sends a fresh link that lasts another 14 days. The earlier link stops working.
  • Cancel withdraws an invitation that has not been answered.

Where you can, invite 2 or more people in each group. When 2 or more people in a group answer, you see their average rather than each person’s answers.

How do I take it on iPhone or iPad?

The Verve Lead app for iPhone and iPad is in testing. Go to Assessments and find the CLMA card.

  1. Tap Start assessment, or Take again. Tap Save for later to stop and come back.
  2. After the last statement, check the Review screen, then tap Submit assessment.
  3. To ask for feedback, tap Manage invitations on the CLMA card.
  4. Enter their Email, their name if you like, and a Relationship, then tap Add to list.
  5. Tap the Send button.
The CLMA card in the app.

How do I read my results?

To find your results later on the web, go to Assessments, select History on the assessment’s card, and choose a date. In the app, tap View results.

Responses counted by group, with 2 groups held back.
The statements behind one competency.

Why is a group held back?

We average the answers from people in the same group. If only one person answered in a group, you see that person’s answers as they are. We tell raters this before they begin.

Some people gave feedback when raters were told their answers would be anonymous. We protect those answers. Where fewer than 3 people answered in a group that includes such answers, that group is Held back:

  • its button under View by says (Held back)
  • it is left out of the statement averages.

Those answers still count towards your overall and competency scores. We treat answers given in an older test version of the iPhone and iPad app the same way.

What should I do next?

Look first at where your view and others’ views differ – the gaps are often the most useful part. Pick one or 2 development areas to talk through with your own mentor or supervisor. When you take the assessment again, History compares your 2 most recent results.

Still not sure?

Ask us and a real person will answer. If you lead an organisation and would like to see Verve Lead with your own leaders in mind, we would be glad to show you around.
