This video shows you how to invite someone to be your mentee, on the web. Select Mentees in the sidebar. This opens your Mentor Dashboard. Then select Invite Mentee, at the top right. Enter their email address. You do not need their name. If we do not have it, we ask them when they first sign in. Read the welcome message. It starts with your saved message, or a suggested one. Change it as you like, or clear it to send no message this time. When it is ready, select Send invite. The box says Invitation sent to, with the address. If the invitation cannot be sent, the box says why. Their invitation now appears under Invitations you’ve sent, marked Pending. The card marks each invitation Pending, Accepted or Expired, so you can see where it is up to. They then get an email from Verve Lead. It has your welcome message and an Accept Invitation button. Here is an example of that email, sent to Ben Carter. When they accept, they join your organisation as a member. Accepting is one choice. Sharing is a separate choice. You see nothing of their check-ins until they also accept you as their mentor. An invitation lasts thirty days. If it expires, select Invite Mentee again. The Verve Lead app for iPhone and iPad is in testing. This video shows the web app.
Narration is AI-generated. Every screen is from our demo environment – an invented organisation and people.
If you have agreed to walk alongside someone who is not yet on Verve Lead, you can invite them yourself. They join your organisation, and we ask them – as a separate question – whether you may see their check-ins and results.
You can invite someone if you hold a mentoring role in your organisation, or are one of its administrators. You can do it on the web, or in the iPhone and iPad app.
How do I invite someone on the web?
- Select Mentees in the sidebar. This opens your Mentor Dashboard.
- Select Invite Mentee at the top right.
- Enter their email address. You do not need their name – if we do not have it, we ask them when they first sign in.
- Read the welcome message. It starts with your saved message, or with a suggested one if you have not saved your own. Change it as you like, or clear it to send no message this time.
- Select Send invite.
When the invitation goes, the box says “Invitation sent to” and the address. If it cannot be sent, the box says why.
| What it says | What to do |
|---|---|
| This person is already a member of the organisation. | They have already joined. Ask an administrator to assign you as their mentor – see assigning mentors. |
| An invite is already pending for this email. | You, or someone else in your organisation, have already invited them, and that invitation has not expired. Ask them to look for it, including in their junk folder. An administrator can send it again. |
| That person has asked not to receive invitations from Verve Lead. | We cannot invite them. Talk with them another way. |
How do I invite someone on iPhone or iPad?
The Verve Lead app for iPhone and iPad is in testing.
- Go to Mentoring.
- Tap the invite button at the top right – a person with a plus sign. If you have no mentees yet, you can also tap Invite a mentee in the middle of the screen.
- Enter their Email address.
- Read the Welcome message (optional). It starts with your saved message, or with a suggested one if you have not saved your own. Change it, or clear it to send none.
- Tap Send invitation, then Done.
What does the person receive?
We send them an email from Verve Lead. Its subject line says they have been invited to join your organisation. It includes:
- your welcome message, under “A note from” and your name
- your booking link, if you have saved one – see your welcome note and booking link
- an Accept Invitation button.
The invitation lasts 30 days.
What happens when they accept?
- Accept Invitation signs them in, and creates their account if they do not have one. They join your organisation as a member.
- If we do not know their name yet, we ask “What should we call you?”.
- Their dashboard opens on Your first steps. Step 1 asks whether they agree to you as their mentor – Connect with and your first name, with Accept and Review first. Step 2 is Take the assessment.
- They also get a second email about the mentor request, with Accept and Decline buttons.
The iPhone and iPad app shows the same first steps on Home. There, the second button in step 1 is Review.
How do I know whether they have joined?
- On your Mentor Dashboard, Invitations you’ve sent marks each invitation Pending, Accepted or Expired.
- On the web, your Profile has a Mentoring relationships card. Anyone who has not yet answered your mentor request shows there as Pending mentee, marked “Awaiting their response”.
- Once they accept you, they appear in Your Mentees.
If an invitation expires, invite them again with Invite Mentee. Your organisation’s administrators can also see the invitation, and can send it again or cancel it.
We check your role again when they accept. If by then you no longer mentor in that organisation, we do not send them a mentor request.
